MBBS in Russia: admission, recognition and what it actually costs

MBBS in Russia: admission, recognition and what it actually costs

Russia has been a mainstay for Bangladeshi medical aspirants for decades, and for good reason: six-year English-medium MBBS programmes at a fraction of private medical college fees at home.

Recognition is the first thing to check. Confirm the university appears in the World Directory of Medical Schools and is accepted for BMDC registration before paying a single taka.

Admission requires SSC and HSC with science, with a minimum GPA that varies by university. There is no IELTS requirement, but you will need a legalised transcript set and a medical report.

The timeline is long. Invitation letters take four to six weeks, visa processing another four to six, and the main intake closes in September. Start by April.

Total annual cost including hostel typically lands between USD 4,000 and 7,000. Be sceptical of any quote far below that — it usually excludes hostel, insurance or the yearly registration fee.
